When you have zero expectations, everything else is just a pleasant surprise. It’s not a cynical and negative point of view. I actually think it’s a very optimistic point of view. It speaks to my internal confidence and internal gratitude and empathy.Having zero expectations is a cognitive trait that has lead me to become more independent. I don’t need anything from anyone else. I’m not expecting anything.

I used to believe that people are disappointing. I’ve learned that the only reason for my disappointments are my expectations. I have no control over how others will behave or what others will do. When I have expectations, I’m expecting other people to do what I want them to do, to behave how I want them to. And that rarely happens. Therein lies the disappointments.

📌For example:📌When you’re preparing to present a new project idea at a team meeting. If you walk in with high expectations—expecting immediate approval and praise—you might feel disappointed if your idea doesn’t get the reaction you hoped for. This disappointment can affect your motivation.📌On the other hand, if you approach the meeting with zero expectations, you’re more open to whatever feedback comes your way. Any positive response becomes a pleasant surprise, boosting your morale. Even constructive criticism can be seen as an opportunity to improve your idea rather than a setback.

How sad it must be to think so little of yourself and others that you don't expect success, joy or trust (among other wonderful things). I'll stick with the other gurus on this one.Expect the best and get it.~ Norman Vincent PealeYou were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win.~ Zig ZiglarExpect the best, plan for the worst, and prepare to be surprised.~ Dennis WaitleyWhatever we expect with confidence becomes our own self-fulfilling prophecy.~ Brian TracyWhen you expect things to happen - strangely enough - they do happen.~ J.P. I'm not sure if that's a respectful way to approach people. If I go in expecting little in terms of kindness or performance from everyone I interact with, it might make it easier to handle disappointment. But it also suggests that I don't have faith in them, which feels disheartening, especially when these people are your colleagues, employees, or even your children.

Happiness is intricately tied to our expectations—how we perceive and measure our experiences against what we anticipate. Consider this: if you visit a grocery store on a quiet Tuesday morning, expecting a swift in-and-out, but instead find yourself stuck in a 45-minute checkout line, frustration would likely wash over you.Yet, imagine waiting only 45 minutes for Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance at Disney World. You would be thrilled, perhaps even feel as if you had won the day. This contrast is something I reflect on often. It’s not that we should diminish our expectations of one another or the world around us, but we should recognize the power they hold over our emotions. When you understand that your expectations shape your happiness, it might be worth pausing to ask yourself: Are my expectations fair and reasonable for this person, for this moment, for this experience? In that awareness, we find a path not to lower our expectations, but to align them with reality, cultivating peace and understanding within ourselves.

Lowering expectations, especially of others, can be a game-changer. When we place expectations on people, projects, or roles, we're often setting ourselves up for disappointment and wasting valuable energy that could be focused on things within our control. Instead, focus on what you can refine and learn. The skills and knowledge you want to develop are always accessible to you because they rely on you. By accepting things and people as they are, we can challenge ourselves to uncover the benefits and identify areas where we can contribute positively. This approach not only helps us make a better impact but also leads to personal growth and a more positive mindset.

I can see how low or zero expectations at work can breed resilience, but in personal relationships, it's a path to detachment. I prefer the goal to be cultivating healthy expectations that nurture our relationships, not eliminate them. Let's expect wisely, not nothing.

Its ok to expect from your loved ones. The only concern should be to have a system in place to handle yourself if those expectations are not met.We cannot ask rain to stop but we can always carry an umbrella.

No Gary, that’s setting the bar low holy cow!! This is only my second time in life ever disagreeing with you. 🤷🏽♂️But I want people, knowing there are expectations on them! Not to burden them. Hopefully to lift them! I find I respond better when I know it’s about something greater than just me. It’s others I don’t want to let down! 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽When I knew I was a father, I locked in at an early age, when I knew I was a part of a championship wrestling team, I locked in when, when I knew I was responsible for leading others I locked in! Let’s go!! 😤😤

Cutting toxic employees, regardless of their skills, is always the right move. The biggest things that will make your company go fast are ..1) continuity 2) lack of politics. That’s why it doesn’t matter how “great” an employee’s numbers are if he or she makes all the other employees miserable. If they constantly spread negativity or drag other employees down and their behavior doesn't improve after getting feedback, it doesn’t matter how good they are on paper.

How many people here are scared to leave their job because they don't like how it's going to look on the resume? The skills you incur as a parent, as a mother, as a father is way more valuable in life and in business than you think. These fears around resume and colleges come from the stuff old world wanted to teach us. It’s time to let go of that perception. This is the new world and we have no place in life for a company that cares about these things, that’s the company you shouldn’t wanna work for in the first place.

Things always change, attention is always moving, things that got you here will eventually become your vulnerability, businesses and people who are over reliant on seo and sem need to start hedging and being thoughtful on creating other avenues of demand. One day I’ll be making content saying “why are you still over focusing on social media content” that day will come, it always does!

Passion AND PRACTICALITY are the keys 🔑 to landing things you want … many over focus on practicality and end up disliking his job so much .. on the other hand too many think passion alone can “get it done” and that’s not the case either … You can't just "want it" and "love it" you have to know how to "do it" .. You have to have practicality to go along with your passion.it’s a balance of P&P

This one is hard for a lot of leaders to understand.Leaders work for their employees. That means you have to understand what your employees want at a deep level. You have to be constantly adapting to their needs and what they want from the organization. There are a million different variables, and it’s on you as a leader to adjust to reality as it changes. When you go from being someone who “executes” to someone who’s managing a team, you go from trading on IQ to trading on EQ. You go from doing the actual work to listening to employees, catering to what they want, taking blame, and being the bigger person. The best managers are actually the best mentors.
